Evacuate Using Safe Exits
Leave the building using the closest safe exit. Check doors for heat before opening and close them behind you.
Stay Low & Calm
Do not panic or use elevators. If smoke is present, stay low to the ground and crawl to safety.
Assist Others
Help children, the elderly, and disabled persons if it is safe to do so, without putting yourself at risk.
Proceed to Assembly Point
Go directly to the designated assembly area. Never re-enter the building until declared safe.
Never Do These During a Fire
Do not use elevators.
Do not hide in rooms or washrooms.
Do not collect personal belongings.
Do not run or push others.
Do not ignore fire alarms.
Never re-enter the building.
Remember: RACE Method
R – Rescue
Rescue anyone in immediate danger (only if safe).
A – Alarm
Alarm by activating the fire alarm and calling emergency services.
C – Contain
Contain the fire by closing doors and windows.
E – Evacuate / Extinguish
Evacuate immediately, or extinguish only if trained and the fire is small.
